Biography

Odes Of Ecstasy were formed in November of 1993 by Dimitris Bikos and Joseph Nikou. One year later Dimitris Panayiotidis joined the band and in December of 1995 they released their first promo tape with only one song called "Theogony", which is not available any more.

The summer of 1996 they recorded their first official demo named"Atheistic Emotions", with the participation of Christina Maniati in female vocals. The demo includes three songs of atmospheric death metal, a cover of Black Sabbath's "Paranoid" and a song with only female vocals, keyboards and electric guitar. It took many good reviews like the one in the Greek Metal Hammer mag. in which it was rated with 8 out of 10.

Some months later Dimitris Panayiotidis left the band, because he had to join the army (in Greece the military service is obligatory) and he was replaced by Nikos Baltas.

In May of 1997 the band recorded one new song called "Words of Insanity"and was released as promo '97.In this song there are some influences from classical music and the recordings took place at Praxis studio, which is one of the most famous in Greece. This promo was the demo of the month in the 152nd issue of the Greek metal Hammer mag. 1 .
